Praise report from Ginger Garner
Filed under: Praise — Sandra Voegeli @ 7:51 am

‘This is a praise report.  We often don’t stop to let others know what God
has done for us, but I have to give Him the glory in what he has done for me in
the last few months since I found out I had cancer.  First, He enabled Dr.
Kruegar to get it all.  The PETSCAN was clear; chemo is a precaution.  Secondly,
He enabled me to go back to work after only missing 4 weeks.  Thirdly, He
blessed me, a single mother, with another year as a co-director of our school’s
after school program since I don’t get any support from Donald.  Fourth, I
disputed my insurance company over $1400 they didn’t want to pay for my Memorial
Day weekend hospitalization.  I knew I was right, and sure enough, after I
disupted it, they paid it IN FULL!  Fifth, I have the energy to teach
intersession for 8 days.  Sixth, He establised a prayer group at my school,
Robert Smalls Middle.  We may be small (about 8), but we are resilient.
Finally, after my last chemo on Wednesday the 26th, I have not had ANY FATIGUE!
I get tired in the late afternoon, but that could be from awaking between 3-4
every morning (normal for me).  With the fatigue, I felt like a wet washcloth
that hadn’t been wrung out.  PRAISE GOD for all He has done!’  Ginger Garner

Prayer for Loren
Filed under: Protection — Sandra Voegeli @ 3:39 pm

‘Our son, Loren, is about to receive his doctorate in Biological Research
from UCSD (San Diego), but the powers that be will not set a date for him to
“defend” until he receives and accepts a job offer. Until then, he is being held
as an “academic hostage.” Please pray that God will open up the “perfect”
position for him in the very near future (for his and Betsy’s sake and so that
we can be closer to our new grandson).Ed Rodgers

John Howe reposts first CBC DVD has arrived
Filed under: Ministry, Praise, Salvation — John W @ 7:17 am

Dear CBC family:

Watching_the_CBC_DVD

Just wanted to let you know that my first DVD showed up in today’s mail! It was from the September 9th service that included a message on Barnabas. It was a blessing seeing many of you in the choir or congregation as the camera moved around! I will be showing the DVD’s as they arrive to the Ugandans in our Bible studies.

On an even better note, one of the Ugandans got saved last night! This was his second time coming to the study. He came back saying that “Jesus is knocking at the door of my heart.” It was a privilege to show him how to open that door and let the Saviour in. His name is Isaac Kisuze if you would like to pray for him. I have enclosed some pictures from the studies. Isaac is in the middle row, sitting to the left.

Our chaplain is now gone on “R&R”, so I will be holding the service tonight in his place. I plan on teaching on the subject of “How to Share Your Faith.” I will let you know how it goes in my weekly update. For now, I just wanted to say thanks for all those who make the DVD’s possible!

Yours in Christ,

John–

Update from John Howe in Iraq
Filed under: Ministry, Praise — John W @ 9:30 am

Hello Friends!

William,_David,_Sylvia_&_Peterson

Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! I pray that this e-mail finds each one of you in good health and enjoying the blessings of God! I am writing with the latest update of the work that God is doing here in Iraq. It continues to be my privilege to minister the gospel of Christ to the souls in our camp. This photo shows William, David, Sylvia and Peterson.

US Military
My primary outreach to our service people has been via a daily e-mail to all of the members within our unit. I am using the latest edition of Our Daily Bread (September through November) as the source. Everyone in our group is receiving a daily e-mail with a devotion, a scriptural poem, a thought for the day and a recommended Bible reading that will take the reader through the entire Bible in a year. The e-mails have prompted several discussions and it is a blessing to see how God is using this! I have ordered 200 Chick tracts (The Greatest Story Ever Told) to distribute with the upcoming Christmas holiday. Regardless of one’s views on Christmas (I realize that many sincere Christians choose not to observe it), it is indisputable that people are more open for the gospel during this time of year. I hope to give out the tracts throughout the camp as an outreach to our military personnel. In particular, I ask you to pray for a young lady named Karen. She is a physician and she was part of the group that my unit relieved. She received Christ as her Saviour about a month before I got here. When I arrived, the old chaplain was already gone and Karen had tons of questions. We spent a couple of days discussing the things of God before she had to leave to go home. She is now back in the United States and is searching for a church. If you know of a Bible believing church in the Evanston, Illinois area, please let me know. I have ordered a bunch of discipleship materials to help with her walk with Christ. She is a great lady and I pray that will use her mightily!

Ugandan
As stated in previous updates, the primary emphasis of what God is doing here right now continues to be with the Ugandans. Our nightly Bible studies have grown from two to five persons attending each night. Peterson is the national pastor that I have mentioned before, and he is joined by two evangelists (William & Alex), as well as a brother and sister duo (David & Sylvia) that are now coming. We have been studying the Gospel of John and enjoying what the Holy Spirit is showing us. You can see the confidence in the word that these folks are gaining each day. It is truly amazing to watch. I have enclosed pictures from tonight’s study with this e-mail so that you can match the faces with the names. I hope that you enjoy them! This photo shows me and Peterson. I purchased a Scofield Reference Bible (KJV) for each of the three preachers in order to further enhance their studies. I have also ordered discipleship material from Chick Publications for them to share with their people on such topics as “what to do after becoming a Christian” and “where the Bible came from.” In addition, I have been invited to their side of the camp to meet the larger group of their people. My intention is to take some of the gospel tracts that I mentioned earlier and distribute them among the Ugandans, as well as our military personnel. Peterson is still insistent that I come to Uganda next year to hold a Bible conference with his church, but we will have to wait and see what God’s will is in that matter! Please keep these dedicated Christians in your prayers.

Chapel Services
Our Chaplain is returning to the United States for some “R&R” and will be gone for several weeks. He has asked that I help cover the Chapel services while he is gone. I am excited about this opportunity because it will provide the occasion to reach US service personnel that are outside my unit, US civilian contractors and other Third Country Nationals in addition to the Ugandans that we are ministering to already. Please pray for fruit from this chance to minister!

Book Project
I am still working on my book, A God of Order. I have not written very much this week. Instead, I have gone back to revise and edit the 4,000 words that I have already writtren. My goal, the Lord willing, is to have this project done before Christmas so that it will be ready to go back to Uganda with Peterson, Williams and Alex. I trust the Lord for His guidance on this matter. I am sorry to be so long winded in this e-mail, but I wanted to give you the scope of what is going on here so that you will know how to pray effectively. I appreciate each of you doing your part to help further the Kingdom of God at our camp in Iraq by your prayers. God bless you all! I hope to hear from each of you soon.

Yours in Christ,
John Howe

Prayer for McTeers
Filed under: Financial Need, Ministry, Praise — Sandra Voegeli @ 3:58 pm

I would like to ask that you continue in prayer for my family. We are still seeking jobs here in Virginia. We had interviews today for jobs at the hospital here. Please also pray for the sell of our house. We are still staying with family and won’t be able to get another place, or be able to continue with our mortgage on the house, until it sells. So far we’ve only had one person look at it from what we’ve heard.

Also, thank you for your prayers for my sisters migrains. She still is having some migrains but they haven’t been as frequent. She appreciates your prayers very much.

Thank you all so much for your faithful prayers and encouragement. We pray for God’s blessings for each one of you.

Pray for Pastor Wentworth
Filed under: Financial Need, Comfort, Ministry, Healing — John W @ 9:27 pm

The pastor of the church I go to back home, Joel Wentworth is extremely sick. He was diagnosed with autoimmune Hepatitis. He and his family live in Emmett Nebraska, a small farm rural town. He is the pastor of Dorsey community Church, Green Valley Sunday School and also leads Bible Studies in Naper and Emmett, and has a mens group that also meets once a week. This past week he was flown by life flight helicopter to Clarkson Hospital in Omaha Nebraska because of low blood pressure, and weakness. He is currently in the ICU and they are running a number of tests to try and figure out if there is anything new going on. A CT scan with dye and x-rays so far have shown no new problems.

His wife Linda is at his side as much as possible. They have 11 children the oldest who just married this past summer. He has been fighting this disease for about 2 or 3 years and the family’s finances are running low. God has been gracious to them and they have met all their needs thus far, and his disability was approved however will not begin receiving checks until around Christmas.

Prior to Joel becoming the pastor to the above churches he was the director of Camp Witness, a bible camp for kids.

Please pray for God’s will to be done with him, and for God’s hand to be on the family.
