Dear CBC Family: I wanted to take a moment to let you know about what the Lord is right now in Iraq. We arrived at our camp about three days ago. It is in a remote part of the country and there isn’t much here. When we arrived, I found out that the Chaplain had been transferred to a different base. As a result, no one has been leading worship services. Service times are posted throughout the camp, and evidently, had been pretty well attended in the past, both by US service personnel and third country nationals (mostly Ugandans). When I advised the camp commandant of my pastoral experience and educational background (B.D., Th.M., Th.D.), I was given permission to hold services in the chapel until a new chaplain is assigned. So starting tomorrow, I will be holding Sunday services at 10:00 am, 2:00 pm and 8:00 pm for the camp. In addition, I will be allowed to have a Wednesday night Bible study. This is a tremendous opportunity and I ask you to pray that God will give a bountiful harvest from it. The command put out an “all hands” type email throughout the camp to advise everyone of the services, so several people have expressed their excitement and interest in the services. I have not had to go looking for anyone to witness to, God has been bringing them to me. The chances to share the Gospel have so numerous that I cannot list them all here. Just please keep me uplifted in prayer for wisdom and guidance and a sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit. If you would like to help out by sending any discipleship materials for your young men and women in uniform, please write me at DocHowe@gmail.com.
Thank you and God bless you all.
Yours in Christ, HM2(FMF) John Howe, USN
