Dear CBC Family:Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! I hope that each of you is well and prospering in your individual walks with the Lord. Another week has come and gone here in Iraq, so it is my privilege to report back to you about the blessings that God has continued to bestow upon us here.
US Military
The Lord has slowly but surely began to build a solid Christian fellowship amongst our military personnel. We are seeing a diversity of Army and Marine Corps participation, as well as a good mix of officers and enlisted. Please pray for our soldier friends (SGT Flores, PVT Baynes and PVT Dias), as well as our Marine brothers (MAJ Scialabba, MAJ Nutt, MSGT Tooley, SSGT Keel, SGT Hunter, CPL Johnson, and PFC Rios). PVT Dias has been a particular blessing this past week and is really
motivated to learn more about the scriptures.
There have also been frequent opportunities to share the Lord with the sailors in my own unit. In particular, I ask you to pray for a young Catholic fellow, HM3 Bondi. He has been asking lots of questions and seems to be under conviction from the Lord. Please pray for his salvation. Praise God for what he is doing in the hearts of our troops!
Ugandans
We continue to see new Ugandans come out for the various studies and fellowships. Our core group continues to be Peterson, William, David, the two Alex’s and our recently baptized brother, Isaac. Each of them is making excellent progress in the depth of their understanding of the scriptures, which is exciting to see. The biggest blessing is seeing them making an effort to share their faith and newfound knowledge with their fellows in the camp. Isaac, who has only been saved for about a month and baptized for a week, is regularly sharing his faith and making appointments to speak with his fellow countrymen.
Other NationsBy God’s grace, we are also continuing to minister to brothers from Nepal, India and Sri Lanka. It is so refreshing to meet such humble servants of Christ who truly love the Lord in the simplicity of the gospel. The bond that unites us through the blood of Christ is so incredible!
Our chaplain has returned from leave, so he will be resuming his Sunday and Wednesday services. I am encouraging the folks in our fellowship to support the Command Religious Program on these days, but we will continue to gather together during the rest of the week for our studies in John, Acts, Genesis, Revelation and the Pastoral Epistles.
Prayer Requests:
1. HM3 Bondi (salvation).
2. Fruit from “Our Daily Bread” e-mail (going out daily to over 50
persons).
3. Continued liberty in the various Bible studies.
4. Growth for all of the believers mentioned above, including myself.
5. Chaplain Fary and the Command Religious Program.
6. A personal request for a need within my family.
Thank you again for all of your prayers, support, and packages on my
behalf. You have truly come along side in a special way to be a true
encouragement to me. This has greatly motivated me to be faithful to
ministry here that God has provided. God bless you all in Jesus’ most
holy name!
Yours In Christ,
John Howe
Serving in Iraq
My mom is meeting with the MUSC team this morning around 10:30 after they determine when and how to move my dad to Hampton General Hospital. Having him in Hampton will be a tremendous burden off my mom as their home is less than a mile from that hospital. She will be able to spend much more time with him without that hard drive to and from Charleston. The drives have really taken a toll on her. A hospice team will be involved in ministering to my parents in Hampton. Hospice care has been as really helpful thing in these things and will be appreciated. Your continued prayers are still very important to us. I cannot find the words to express what a blessing they have been to this point. We are all deeply grateful for each of you.

Dear CBC Family:
Greetings in the name of the risen Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ! I pray that everyone is doing well and prospering in beautiful Beaufort by the sea! God continues to be gracious to those of us here in Iraq, so I thought I would share the most recent blessings.
Last evening, we had 18 precious souls in attendance for our Sunday evening fellowship. Like the previous week, it was an international gathering with a diversity of nations represented. The brothers from Nepal that came last time brought several more friends with them. Our Ugandan brothers have continued to be faithful, as well. We were missing a few of our US Military personnel, but they had been faithful to come to the other Bible studies throughout the week. I preached on the "The Person & Work of the Holy Spirit." We should have one more Sunday evening fellowship next week before our Chaplain returns and
resumes his Sunday services.
The Bible studies have been very well attended and have been a great joy. We continue to work through the gospel of John on Mondays, the book of Acts (via DVD with Pastor Broggi) on Tuesdays, Genesis on Thursdays and Revelation on Fridays. We had our first session on the Pastoral Epistles on Saturday evening and this study was very well received. I am producing study outlines for each of the classes, so if anyone in the church family desires to receive a copy please let me know. I will be happy to forward it to you.
Muloki Peterson, our faithful Ugandan pastor, is still anticipating me coming to Uganda next summer to hold a Bible conference. If the Lord opens this door, I would love to be able to do that. We are praying about a month long trip with the main goal being the establishment of a Bible Institute of some sorts. I told him that I am sure my CBC family would be very excited to help out with DVD’s, Bibles, etc., to help train their young men to reach not only Uganda, but perhaps other parts of Africa, as well. Please pray for God’s will in this matter.
Tomorrow looks to be an exciting day. We will be baptizing our brother in Christ, Isaac. He is the Ugandan young man who received the Lord about two weeks ago. He has been very faithful to continue to come to our various programs and he has been very persistent about following the Lord in this important demonstration of discipleship.
Please pray for two soldiers, Gus Dias and Justin Baynes, who have been very hungry for the word of God. Justin in particular has come to every Bible study and is growing leaps and bounds. He had been studying with the Navigators when he was in the United States, but he had not found very much Christian fellowship previously here in Iraq. He has brought much joy to my heart just by his eagerness to learn.
I would really like to say "Thank You" to the Bailey Ladies Sunday School class for the wonderful care package that they sent. Ladies, your puppy chow was a REAL hit with the troops here and we are very grateful! I have enclosed a picture of PVT Justin Baynes with his own personal bag!

I also want to thank the CBC Media Center for the DVD’s that have been coming. They have become an integral part or our curriculum here as we disciple the various groups that God has given to us.
The brethren here send their greetings to you, in Jesus’ name, thanking you for your sacrifices on our behalf. God bless you all!

My mother is with the doc as I type this. Dad’s not doing well at all. The doc asked about what we consider extraordinary measures to keep him alive. We both agree that a feeding tube is NOT extraordinary. Anything beyond that would be. The doc will comply with our request. It is all 100% being put in God’s hands now. Pray that if he survives that his recovery would be 100% and quick. If not, then that he would pass on quickly. My dad has always been very active and could sit down at home for more than 10 minutes for only a couple of things…an episode of Gunsmoke or a John Wayne movie. He would be in an earthly hell to be bed-ridden or housebound. We need God’s immeasurable mercy on his life. Please remember to pray for my mom. Thank you from the deepest part of our hearts. Jesus reigns. He alone is worthy. Praise His name in all the earth.

I wanted to take just a moment to share with you the blessing that we had at our Sunday evening worship service at the STP (Shock Trauma Platoon).
We had 21 folks show up, which was more than double the total of 8 that showed up last Sunday! It was truly an "international" gathering as we had people from Uganda, Sri Lanka, India, Nepal and of course several of our US military personnel. I continue to marvel at the grace and mercy of God!
I spoke on the 23rd Psalm, as we considered God’s
1. Personal relationship (v.1)
2. Peace (v.2)
3. Presence (v.3)
4. Protection (v.4)
5. Provision (v.5)
6. Paradise (v.6)
Thank you for your continued prayers and support for the ministry here in Iraq! God bless you all.
Yours in Christ,
John

Yesterday I heard of a young man injured in a motorcylce accident 2 weeks
ago. He is still on life support in Savannah. His name is Joshua, and I don’t
believe he or any of his family are saved. Please pray for God’s glory and will
for Joshua. Blessings…Lin Harris
Dear Friends:
Greetings in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ! I pray that each of you is doing well and rejoicing in the goodness and mercies of God! I am writing to give you the very latest update on the work of the Lord that is taking place in our little corner of Iraq!

US MILITARY UPDATE
There has been an increase in interest amongst some of our service members here in Camp. On Sunday evening, we had 4 Marines join us for our fellowship. 3 of the 4 were among the highest ranking Marines in our camp, so it was a blessing to see their interest in the scriptures. I spoke on the subject of "Comfort" (2 Cor. 1) and why Christians sometimes face challenges in life so that we can know how to comfort others through the comfort that we ourselves receive from God.
On Wednesday, two Army soldiers joined us for our Bible study on Prayer in Matthew 6. One of them, a sergeant, stopped me on the way to thechow hall to let me know that God was speaking to him through the studies. The other soldier, a private, came on Wednesday, as well, and then came again on Thursday to sit in with our Ugandan study. Please pray for Gus.
There has been answered prayer for the young Navy physician that I asked you to pray for. In my last update, I asked you to remember Karen and to petition the Father to help her find a church now that she is back in the USA. She recently found a church in Evanston, IL, which is a blessing. Please continue to pray for her spiritual growth.
The mail list for the Our Daily Bread devotional is at approximately 50 people right now, including all of the members of our unit, as well as members of other groups that I have met. Please pray that God will
continue to use this tool to reach unbelievers with the gospel message, as well as to strengthen the faith of those who are already Christians.
UGANDAN UPDATE
Our Ugandan study group has expanded to ten precious souls. Our average nightly study, however, is about 6 persons due to the scheduling conflicts that they have to maneuver. Peterson, William, the two Alex’s, David and Silvia are all doing well and growing in the Lord. Isaac, the young man who got saved several days back, is really eager to get baptized. I am looking in to an opportunity for him to follow the Lord in this act of faith, so please pray that God will make a way for this to happen. It is a blessing that he keeps asking me about this, not me having to coerce him into it!
We have taken a little different approach to the nightly Bible studies. Instead of focusing exclusively on the gospel of John, I feel led by the Lord to offer a little more diversity in the teaching syllabus. I have enclosed an attachment of the schedule that we are following. It is a full semester load, so please pray that God will give me wisdom in fulfilling the dual obligations of my military duties and spiritual responsibilities.
BOOK UPDATE
Work continues on our small book, "A God of Order." I appreciate those who have shared comments and suggestions on this project and thank you for your input!
Well, that is the latest from Iraq. Thank you for your prayers and support in the ministry here. I will try to update you again in the next couple of weeks on what the Lord is doing here. Take care and God bless each of you.
Yours in Christ,
John Howe
