Frequently Asked Questions
What is a blog?
A blog is a website where entries are made in journal style and displayed with the latest at the top. Blogs often provide commentary or news on a particular subject, such as food, politics, or local news; some function as more personal online diaries. The term “blog” is a contraction of “Web log.” “Blog” can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
What are the requirements to be able to post to the BBC blog?
Just a desire to share your prayer request or praise report with our CBC prayer warriors. This is a moderated blog so nothing is posted without the approval of our moderator.
Can anyone read the CBC prayer/praise blog?
Yes, it is available to anyone connected to the Internet. We require you to check the “yes” box on the Post a Prayer or Praise form to make sure you agree with posting your message.
What does a moderated site mean?
It means the prayer/praise submission is sent to the person selected as the site overseer to determine if it fits the criteria for posting to the CBC site. If it does, the moderator may make minor changes for clarity or to correct mistakes and then post it to the site. The moderator prevents undesirable posts such a spam or non-related subject material.
Is there any way that I can be notified of a new posting or comment?
Yes, there are 2 ways to receive new posts or comments to a posts.
- One way is by receiving an email from the website for every new post. You must register using the button in the sidebar. You will receive an initial password by e-mail. This will allow you to use the log-in button where you can change your password to something you can remember, also, you can click subscriptions and check the categories you wish to subscribe.
- Another, and probably better way, is to subscribe using the to the website’s two RSS feeds. You do not need to register to use this method. Just click the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) buttons at the bottom of the sidebar and if you are familiar with RSS you have an RSS reader, you know what to do. If you don’t have an RSS reader we suggest the free Bloglines reader developed by Google. If you want to get started just click here.
I subscribed for postings by e-mail so why am I not getting them?
Several things you should check:
- E-mail caught in the spam folder is the most common problem. Be sure you check your spam folder first.
- Next, login to the website, click “Update your profile or change your password on the “Dashboard” page. Now click “Subscriptions” and make sure all the categories are checked. We suggest you check the “Notification Settings” Plain Test and Full Post. Now click Update Preferences.
What are comments good for?
Comments can be used to add additional information or encouragement to the initial post.
Are comments moderated?
Yes, for the first comment only by a given person. Additional comments by that person are not moderated, however, the moderator is notified of a comment being made and still has control to erase it should it be mischievous in nature.
Why do I need to have posting approval?
It is necessary to have the approval of the poster because of the nature of the Internet and possibility of names being used for mischievous purposes. E-mail addresses will not be posted to prevent that address from being spammed.
How can I delete a posting?
If you registered you can log-in and click manage. You can edit or delete your posts. If you have not registered, use the prayer and praise form to notify the moderator of your desires.
